Storytime with author & artist Lita Judge

Storytime with author & artist Lita Judge In-Person

We are so pleased to host author and illustrator Lita Judge to read aloud her newest picture book, ‘Old Blue is My Home’. Lita Judge is the author and illustrator of 30 fiction and non-fiction books and we have them all!  You may know her books such as The Red Sled, Flight School, One Thousand Tracings or Beatrix and the Unicorn. Check out our display in the youth department.

Old Blue is My Home is her latest picture book. Old Blue is a van that has everything a family needs. A bed to sleep in, books to read, and a safe place to live. Old Blue is home for a little girl and her family experiencing housing insecurity. Through her young eyes, she tells the story of her loving family, the loneliness that sometimes comes with a nomad lifestyle, and all the wonder it brings as well. Her innocent and honest view is engaging, brought to life from the Author’s own experiences.

‘Old Blue is my Home’ is a picture book with beautiful illustrations filled with soft nostalgic warmth. Many people have different housing situations and this explains that fact with dignity and respect. The author’s note at the end can be shared with older children, allowing parents to start a conversation with those who would like to know more. Children ages 4-8 will enjoy this story about home is what you make it, and for everyone that can be something different.
